CONGRATULATIONS Cornelius Baliukonis

If there were a poster child for someone that is driven, determined to win the leaderboard, committed to push for excellence, hard worker, stubborn, competitive and has really good hair, well it would undoubtably be a picture of our March Member of the Month, Cornelius Baliukonis! We love how driven he is at trying to get just a little bit better at something with every visit. Cornelius is a regular at the box in the evening although he’s been popping into the mid-morning classes lately. We asked Cornelius some questions so you could get to know a bit more about him and here is what he had to say…

How long have you been doing crossfit?

Second week of April will be 2 years!

What has been your biggest accomplishment in crossfit and outside the box?

In CrossFit, that now I can do every movement besides one (handstand walks)

Outside of CrossFit, maybe winning the Russian Amateur in 2014 (golf) or maybe tasting over 300 different wines in 2019 😅

Favorite movement and most hated movement?

Favorite is bar muscle ups. Least favorite either thrusters or rowing

What motivates you to come to Crossfit?

I’m super competitive by nature and been competing at high level in different sports my whole life so it’s that daily dose of competition I get that brings me back and the pursuit of being the best (even though it will probably never happen). It’s not so much the destination as the journey, they say.

What are your goals inside and outside of the box this year!

There are a lot of goals I’ve written down on the wall by the assault bike, but would be great to cross off handstand walks from the list. Increasing my PR weights on all the lifts is another target.

Outside the box, I have the target of tasting 500 different wines this year and hopefully find a new job since the fund I work at is on shaky grounds these days. If anyone is hiring, let me know 😃

Tell everyone what you do when you are not at the box

Mostly working. I work around 11-14 hours per day, so that takes up the majority of my time. That includes most weekends as well. If I’m not working and have free time, you can find me playing golf, drinking wine, playing video games, or hanging out with my friends (mostly drinking wine with them 😅)

How did you find Crossfit Aviator?

I met Coach Erick at my old box in Hollywood, so when I moved back to this area for a job, Aviator was the closest to me and I already knew somebody there
